There are pictures and videos from Ignite Portland 7 all over the place now. So if you couldn’t make it to see it live, you can watch from the comfort of your home.

There were two video cameras set up in different parts of the theater.

This is the better video, but the angle makes me look like an Oompa Loompa.

Ignite Portland 7 Details

If you’ve never heard of Ignite, the premise is this: if you had five minutes onstage what would you say? And what if you had five minutes and 20 slides that advanced every 15 seconds? And what if you could do it in the Bagdad Theater in front of 750 people?

That’s Ignite Portland.

Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then hundreds, if not thousands, of 5-minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and NYC.

I submitted a proposal called “Confessions of a Dating Ninja” a few months ago, and I was chosen as one of the lucky 20 who get to present on November 19, 2009. You can see me and the other 19 presenters in one of three ways:

Go to the Bagdad Theater and watch it live.
Watch it stream live on the Ignite website.
Watch it after the fact when all of the talks are posted on the Ignite YouTube page.

Attending the Event

If you live in the Portland area and plan to attend the event at the Bagdad Theater, here are the details:

DOORS: Doors open at 5:30. The Bagdad Theater will fill up, so get there early if you want seats together.

START: Talks start at 7pm. They split the group in half and have an intermission.

COST: Free! Unless you count beer and pizza, speaking of which, the line for beer is always really long, so factor that into your arrival time.
